Unable to sign in to Google account in MightyText Desktop app

While signing in to the MightyText standalone Desktop app, you may get the following error message: "You are trying to sign in from a browser or app that doesn't allow us to keep your account secure".

Unfortunately, due to security reasons, Google has decided to no longer allow access to their services from browsers embedded within other applications. 

If you are currently experiencing this issue, we suggest running the MightyText web app in your browser. If you are using the Chrome browser, we recommend installing the MightyText Chrome extension

Since this is a decision from Google's end, we currently do not have any control over this and it will affect all other apps using embedded browsers as well.
