Utilize new notification API in Android 4.3
Android 4.3's new Notification APIs allows any app to register with the notification server for management. If this is utilized by the MightyText host app on Android phones, it could register for notification management and dismiss SMS notifications when they are read remotely.
This, of course, means no more annoying blinking LEDs and backlogged notifications when you've been away and using MightyText. Moreover, it should be a simply addition since it is a fully supported API.
I'll just leave this here:
We launched phone notification syncing (from other apps) in late 2014. If you have an Android 4.3, 4.4, or 5.0 phone, try it out!
I agree with everything, was looking for a way to do this. I have just started using mighty text but now find it invaluable, when I am at work and cannot have my phone, but then clearing out each individual thread is annoying. +1 for this idea
@jon close, but Mightytext's biggest shortcoming is the neglect of their own user feedback...
Non-clearing of notifications on the phone when read elsewhere seems to me to be Mightytext's biggest shortcoming.
Matt, would you please supply the coding to do this, and explain how to install it? Thank you.
Yeah, buddy. I was just going to suggest the feature, and this guy's already got the homework done! Nice work!
+1 for this feature as well!! It would be awesome to implement this.
I sure hope this gets addressed! Love the app and been using it for years! But always having to open every conversation to clear out the notification is ridiculous.
Yes please! As an example, PushBullet just added this. I use that for all my other notifications, and I can dismiss them right from the popups. Dismissing phone notifications from the chrome plugin would be great. Or dismiss once read or something like that. I'm constantly unlocking the phone screen just to dismiss the blinking light from already read text messages.
What does the delete function do right now? I chose to delete off of my phone when I deleted on Mighty, but there seems to be no synch?
please please please.
The whole point of this app is I don't need to touch my phone to handle messages! Now I still have to do it to clear my notifications!
This would make this application perfect for me!
It's really hard to find a SMS desktop client that is utilizing this. The constant blinking notifications can get quite annoying to clear when you have already looked at the message.
I can provide sample code if you want...
It looks like you can only dismiss by package name, so to be safe, the user can configure their SMS app with an easy dialog using the Package Manager.
I was hoping to see something about this popping up on the blog at some point after the 4.3 release!
This would be an awesome addition to a great app!
